As you are aware, Oaks Park High School
will become 10 forms of entry from
September 2015. There are two stages to
this programme:
1. Re-modelling of our Reception Area.
This started over half term and has
meant the relocation of our Reception to
the Sixth Form block. Visitors to the
school need to report to the Sixth Form
block on arrival.
2.The main expansion will be achieved by a
three storey block adjacent to Newbury Park
Station Car Park. Work will commence on
this in September 2014, ready for opening in
September 2105.
There will be a public meeting for parents,
local residents and others to view the proposals. This will take place on Thursday
26th June. Further details will be provided
nearer the date.

Youth Travel Ambassador Project Success
After the Travel Green Teams recent triumph at the YTA Pitching Event at the London
Transport Museum in May they have just heard of a rather fabulous result.
In March the team pitched their idea to “Save our Subways” in which they discussed plans
to deter the public, and in particular students, from running dangerously across the busy
A12. The team’s idea was to make the subways much more user friendly, less intimidating
and a generally cleaner place to use. We were awarded a grant of £300 to help kick start
our campaign and have been busy making plans to conduct surveys, make posters etc.
Today we have had the fantastic news that our good friend at TFL Ross Butcher has been
in contact with the Highways Agency and Redbridge Council and they have agreed to start
a series of improvements starting with a deep clean, new lighting and to repair and replace
the old wall tiles. We have been assured that we will be kept up to date with all future
works so keep reading to receive updates as and when we get them.
This is an amazing victory for the Travel Green Team and we are so proud that all our hard
work has paid off and that yet again we have been victorious! Well done to everyone involved including Andy from TFL, Mrs Fage, Ms Pugh and Ms Smith.

Connect 4 Tournament
The House competition is very close – it could easily go either way between Sigma and Omega. It’s been
quite an open qualifying competition and there could be any number of winners.
Omega 28543 (House Champion: Suraj 8B, 17 qualified for Round 1)
Sigma 27790 (House Champion: Mr Bissett, 18 qualified for Round 1)
Alpha 10876 (House Champion: Arshia 7E, 8 qualified for Round 1)
Kappa 5514 (House Champion: Rashad 9N, 5 qualified for Round 1)
The 48 names on the next page are all qualified for the knockout stages and have games scheduled for the
week commencing 2nd June. Each leg of each game is now worth 100 points, with a bonus for qualifying for
the next round as well, so big points can be amassed quickly. If students fail to turn up on two consecutive
days without notice, then the full quota of points will be given to their opponent. Games can be played at any
time, but these are suggested to try to stagger the first round. Form tutors – please make the relevant students aware.

Each form from years 7-10 has been allocated a team
from this year’s FIFA World Cup.
- Your task is to work together as a form to create a
board display for your allocated country. You will also
be given a World Cup wall chart which you can update
and use to follow your team’s progress throughout the
tournament.
-The first game takes place on the 12th June and
displays will be judged on the day
of the last group game,
Thursday the 26th June.
