シンポジウム “Emotion, interoception, and the sense of agency”
Hugo D. Critchley 教授の来日に伴い，下記の通り，シンポジウムを開催致します．
Critchley 先生は現在，サセックス大学医学部の教授をお務めで，これまで精神医学および
心身医学に関する数多くの先駆的な論文を出版されており，この分野の第一人者として広く
知られています．本シンポジウムでは，特別講演として，意思決定における内臓感覚の役割
に関する近年の研究成果についてお話をいただきます．さらに，関連分野を専門的に研究な
さっている国内の研究者数名をお招きし，「情動・内受容感覚・自己主体感」というテーマに関
する総合的な議論を展開させたいと考えております．
参加登録は不要ですので，ご興味のある方は，是非ご参加ください．

(Brighton and Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex)
“Important decisions and the heart”
Abstract: Feelings from the body can underlie hunches and gut-feelings to
guide intuitive decision-making in everyday life ('somatic makers' of Damasio
and colleagues).
However, we might expect that certain important
decisions, carrying high costs of getting wrong, are best made on the basis
of cold logic, independently of poorly defined bodily process linked to
emotional state. I will discuss data from financial decision-making and from
experimental models of life-and-death decision-making that suggests that
sensitivity to internal bodily signals (such as heartbeats) can be optimized for
high value decision-making, and that the targeting interoceptive mechanisms
may mitigate fatal outcomes of decisions taken in high-stress circumstances.
