International conference October 12/13, 2016, Frankfurt University Religion and Educational Research National Traditions and Transnational Perspectives Is religion being underrated in educational research? Or is education rather being underrated in religious studies? Do these questions depend on national traditions in educational as well as religious research? And are there transnational exchanges between countries through international education studies, translations of textbooks, travelling of scholars, networks, guilds and media? These research questions are currently discussed by eleven colleagues in nine countries in one of the recently published issues of the International Journal for the Historiography of Education (2/2015). Regarding this debate and the significance of religion in modern societies, the conference focuses on national traditions and transnational perspectives on religion and educational research. By doing so, the conference also attempts to expand the methodology of transnational history in the field of (religious) education.
