In high school, English is a subject to “pass”, but outside of school it is tool that helps people succeed in business, enjoy trips abroad, and make friends. With the world coming to Japan for the 2020 Olympics, it will become important to communicate effectively with foreigners in English. The four sessions below help students to use English for real communication. Saturday 25 July 10:00 - 12:00 Getting to Know Each Other With Ms. Louise Ohashi In this session students will get a lot of speaking and listening practice. They will:  do a “getting to know you” survey  present a summary of their group’s answers  watch a short presentation  participate in group discussions The session covers topics that people talk about when they first meet, so it will prepare you for meeting new English-speaking friends. 13:00 - 15:00 English Role Plays With Ms. Louise Ohashi In this session students will focus on oral communication and writing. They will:  perform role plays using scripts  write role-plays in groups and perform them  work on their body language  improve their intonation If you attend this session, you are guaranteed to leave with some new skills and a smile on your face! Sunday 26 July 10:00 - 12:00 Talking about Style and Fashion With Mr. Neil Addison In this session students will learn some fun expressions used in discussions. They will:  Learn vocabulary to describe fashion  Learn phrases for giving opinions  Participate in a role-play discussion activity  Debate their opinions in an expressive way By the end of this class, students will feel more confident about giving their opinions in English! 13:00 - 15:00 The World of Work With Mr. Neil Addison In this session students will learn about English used in the working world. They will:  Learn some commonly used workplace expressions  Participate in a work related role-play activity  Learn how to interview for a job in English  Perform an interview game with their classmates This class will teach students some basic skills that will help them to survive in an English speaking workplace.
